Ho Chi Minh city calls for investment in 17 projects against flooding and waste water treatment

Investors can choose projects that are suitable for their ability to resist flooding with Ho Chi Minh City.

On the morning of August 8, HCM City Party Committee held a conference calling for investment in solutions to prevent flooding and waste water in order to call businesses, experts to propose investment solutions in the form of partners Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Attending the meeting were Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen and leaders of many ministries – the Netherlands Embassy, experts and businesses in and outside the country.

Accordingly, TP is calling for investment in 17 projects including 7 projects to build waste collection and treatment plants; 6 rehabilitation projects, canal dredging, 3 dyke projects with tidal control ports and 1 new wastewater treatment project at Binh Hung wastewater treatment plant.

TP is implementing flood prevention under two master plans. It is the Rainwater Drainage Planning and Irrigation Planning. Flood reduction program is one of the seven breakthrough programs of the city in the period 2016-2020 with total capital needs up to 73.359 billion. However, the budget of the city is only about 16.338 billion, the central budget support 588 billion, the remaining is calling for socialization as well as ODA.
